Reed Care
Soak reed for 2-4 minutes before playing. Do not oversoak.
Always check the opening of the reed before playing. If the reed is very open, pinch the reed closed and check the fit of the wire. The wire should be engaged and gently gripping the sides of the reed but should still have some wiggle front to back. It should not be pushed too far up or down on the reed. The wire can be used to adjust the opening by gently pinching the reed closed or open with your fingers on the wire. You should not need to untwist the wire.
Best played close to the tip with strong air support and medium lip pressure.
After playing, blow any excess water or debris out of the reed from the bottom of the tube. This will help ensure cleanliness, clear tone, and a long life. You may consider using a small brush (like an instrument cleaning brush, mascara brush, bocal brush, or strong lint-free pipe cleaner) to clean any debris off of the wire.
